FCS Introduces New Recycled Fin Packaging
| Feb 26, 2013
In a conscious effort to keep in line with their ‘Environmental Policy’ and maintain the health of the planet, FCS is proud to introduce their new recycled fin packaging.
Now in the marketplace, the new packaging which is made from recycled materials, will be used across the majority of FCS fins sold at retail. Once the product has been purchased and the packaging is no longer of use it can be conveniently recycled.
The new FCS fin packaging consists of two components; the pulp tray which is made from recycled newspaper, and the clear slide cover that effectively protects and allows the fins to be easily displayed, which is made from recycled PET.
PET is traditionally used as a raw material for making packaging materials such as bottles and containers for a wide range of food products and other consumer goods. Products made from PET can be recycled which reduces the amount of waste going to landfills.
FCS product designer Scott Norrie said the project was exciting but challenging, “I wanted to design something that was functional, had aesthetic value, and above all was made from recycled materials that have reached the end of their useful life. The project definitely had its challenges but I think everyone is pleased with the end result”.
The packaging itself maintains a sophisticated look complimented by the unmistakable use of the recycled materials. Functionally the fins are clearly visible and other information such as fin category, size, and construction are referenced on the front. A security tag can also be easily attached to the packaging.
The full range of FCS fins featuring the new packaging are available at all leading surf retailers.
