When your last name is Florence and you grow up on Oahu’s North Shore, you have little choice but to be a maniac. Case in point – Nathan Florence.
As the middle sibling between elder bro John John and younger bro Ivan, Nate grew up with a brotherly drive to charge when swell arrived on the north shore each winter. It was in these conditions, where Nathan really began to hit his stride and his list of accomplishments began to stack up. In 2018 he claimed the Surfline Wave of The Winter, which was quickly followed by a victory at the Red Bull Cape Fear at Shipsterns in 2019 and was quickly matched in the following months and years with standout performances in Tahiti, Mexico and Indo.
Nathan joined the FCS team in 2021 and he looks set to continue his big-wave shenanigans in 2022 while donning his new signature big wave fin that will no doubt become a favourite fin for maniacs all over the globe.
